Ithaca Improves To 11-4 In-Region With Win Over St. Lawrence

Trevor Wolf had four hits and drove in four runs

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The baseball team (13-13, 11-4 in region) pounded out a season-best 21 hits and scored in six straight innings to beat St. Lawrence (16-15) 13-8 Wednesday in a game played at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Eight of Ithaca's starters had at least one hit, with six recording multi-hit games. Junior Trevor Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) picked up a season-high four hits, while senior #T.J. Abone# (Rome Free Academy/Rome), juniors Matt Streich (East Greenwich/East Greenwich) and Rob Zappia (Greece Athena/Rochester) and freshmen Sean Weber b and Matt Keller (Pelham/Pelham) each tallying three.

Wolf drove in four runs, with Weber and Keller each picking up three RBI.

Ithaca got on board first, scoring one run. In the third, a Wolf homerun was the first of four straight two-out hits for the Bombers that extended the lead to 4-0.

The Saints got on board with a run in the fourth, and pulled the scored to 8-4 after five. In the bottom of the sixth, Ithaca broke open the game with five runs. Abone and Streich led off the inning with consecutive singles, with Wolf driving in Abone on a double to left center. Weber followed with a two run single. Keller drove in a pair of runs with two outs to put The Bombers up 12-4.

Junior Aaron Sapp (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) picked up his second win of the season, pitching 6.2 inning and allowing five earned runs. He struck out two. Freshman Ian Gaule (Columbia/East Greenbuch) allowed just one earned run over 2.1 innings of relief.

Ithaca returns to action Saturday with a home game against Brockport.
