Ithaca, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's tennis team (13-2, 6-0 Empire 8) defeated Alfred (6-7, 1-6 Empire 8) 9-0 Sunday afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center. Ithaca extended its Empire 8 regular-season winning streak to 17 matches, which stretches back to 2008.

With the win the Bombers clinched a berth in the four-team Empire 8 Championship Tournament, which will be held at Stevens May 8-9.

The Bombers, ranked 16th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, didn't drop a single set in the match. Ithaca returns to action Tuesday at St. John Fisher and concludes the regular season Saturday with a home match against Elmira.
