Field Hockey Drops High-Scoring Game at Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester (5-7) scored the game-winning goal 5:56 into overtime and defeated the Ithaca field hockey team (4-6) 5-4 Wednesday evening. The Bombers built a four-goal lead in the first half and the teams combined for nine goals and 52 shots in the high-scoring affair.

Sophomore midfielder Tracy Rivas (East Meadow/East Meadow) scored the first two goals for Ithaca in the first half. Rivas opened the scoring in the sixth minute on an assist from sophomore forward Julia Conroy (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.). Rivas doubled the lead 10:03 into the contest, and sophomore midfielder Amanda Rissmeyer (Watchung Hills Regional/Millington, N.J.) scored 1:14 later to make it 3-0 in the Bombers' favor. Ithaca's fourth goal came from junior forward Jessica Dillon (Mahopac/Mahopac), assisted by Rissmeyer.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Singleton (Irondequoit/Rochester) had a busy day in net and made a career-high 18 saves.

Ithaca returns to Empire 8 play and visits Elmira Saturday at 1 p.m.
