ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's golf team defeated William Smith 370-412 and won the inaugural varsity match in Ithaca's history. The Bombers were led by freshman Jackie Young (Burnt Hills Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills), who shot a personal-best round of 89 at the Country Club of Ithaca. The par-72 course played to 5,805 yards.
Young's front-nine score of 43 got her off to a strong start on the day, and was Ithaca's best score for nine holes among all players. Freshman Brooke Llobell (East Islip/Great River) posted 90 with identical scores of 45 on each side. Junior Christie O'Shea (John Jay/Hopewell Junction) shot a personal-best round of 93. Freshman Samantha Liberty (Brockton/Brockton, Mass.) rounded out Ithaca's scorers with a round of 98.
The Bombers will return to action Saturday and Sunday at the St. Lawrence Invitational.
