Field Hockey Defeats Morrisville

Freshman Abbey Lind scored her first career goal

Morrisville, N.Y. – The Ithaca field hockey team (1-1) earned a 4-2 win over Morrisville (1-1) Saturday. The Bombers scored all four of their goals in the first half.

Sophomore forward Jessica Dillon (Mahopac/Mahopac) scored Ithaca's first two goals, and they were the first two goals of her career. The first was assisted by junior forward Katherine Brown (Akron/Akron) and the second came off of a deflection of a pass from senior midfielder Annie Onzik (Bishop O'Reilly/Shavertown, Pa.). Freshman forward Abbey Lind (Manheim Township/Lancaster, Pa.) gave Ithaca a 3-0 lead with her first career goal. Brown capped Ithaca's scoring in the 31st minute by scoring off a rebound.

Senior goalkeeper Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) played the first half and made five saves. She earned the win for Ithaca. Senior goalkeeper Chelsea Welsh (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia) played the second half and had seven saves.

Ithaca held a 17-5 advantage in penalty corners.

The Bombers play Wednesday at Brockport at 4 p.m.
