Siefert Powers #7 Men's Lacrosse Over Utica

Alec Siefert scored six goals for Ithaca

Utica, N.Y. - The #3 Ithaca men's lacrosse team (10-1, 4-1 Empire 8) defeated Utica (5-5, 0-3 Empire 8) 17-9 at Utica's Charles A. Gaetano Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
 

Senior attackmen Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) scored six goals to lead the Bombers. Freshman attackmen Devin Weinshank (Long Beach/Long Beach) scored a career high three goals for Ithaca. Junior Nic Heckman (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) and senior Chris Carman (Monte Vista/Alamo, Calif.) each scored a pair of goals for Ithaca. Senior Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/St. George Island, Fla.), sophomore Mike Silipo (Williston Northampton/Deerfield, Mass.) and freshman Michael Edwards (Jamesville-DeWitt/Jamesville) each tallied two assists for the Bombers. Silipo added a goal as well.
 

Sophomore goalie David Gal (Loomis Chaffee [Conn.]/Amherst, Mass.) made eight saves in 45 minutes and senior goalie Ben Connery (Homer/Homer) made 4 saves in 15 minutes.
 

Ithaca outscored Utica 16-4 in the first three periods and dominated possession. The Bombers picked up 40 ground balls, won 20 of 30 face offs, and were successful on 22 of 24 clear attempts. Junior Nick Neuman (West/Madison, Wisc.) picked up six ground balls and went 15-7 on draws for the Bombers.
 

The Bombers return to action Saturday at #24 Nazareth at 1 p.m.
