Biography
2008: Connery backstopped the Bombers into the NCAA playoffs, making a career-high 26 saves in the conference final against RIT. He was named the Empire 8 Championship Tournament MVP and his save total was the program’sthird -highest ever and the second-highest single-game total all season by a Division III goalie. Connery was a three-time Empire 8 Goalie of the Week and led the Bombers with 172 saves and a .585 save percentage. He recorded a 7.69 goals-against in Empire 8 play. He stopped 16 shots in wins over Oneonta and #3 Cortland and recorded 21 saves at RIT. He picked up a career-best seven ground balls in the win over Cortland and added six in the Empire 8 playoff victory over RIT. Connery had three caused turnovers in the Hartwick win.
2007: Connery appeared in eight games in 2007, making 20 saves. In the Empire 8 semifinal match against St. John Fisher, he played the last three quarters of the game in relief of an injured Dennis Butler. Connery made a career-high nine saves to earn his first career victory. Connery made seven saves in a win over conference rival Elmira.
2006: Connery appeared in five games as a freshman, stopping 15 of 20 shots on goal in 39:44 for a .750 save percentage and a 7.55 goals-against average. He made a season-high five saves in 14:47 in a win over Alfred and notched four saves in 9:53 against Nazareth in the ECAC playoffs.
High School: A 2005 graduate of Homer High School, Connery was coached by Tom Cottrell. A captain his junior and season years, Connery earned all-league accolades and was named MVP of Section III. He was selected to participate in the Exceptional Senior All-Star game. Connery was also a member of the football and basketball teams. In football, he earned first-team all-league accolades his junior and senior seasons and was named third-team all-Central New York in 2004.
Personal: A sport management major, he is the son of Phil and Janie Connery.
