Hoboken, N.J. -- The No. 4 Ithaca men's lacrosse team (14-1, 7-1 Empire 8) earned an 11-10 win at No. 23 Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday night. The victory clinched the Empire 8 regular season title for the Bombers, and the top overall seed for the upcoming Empire 8 tournament. Ithaca will host a semifinal game Friday at 4 p.m. against Nazareth. Tickets for the game cost $4 for the general public and $2 for college students, children and senior citizens.
Senior Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/St. George Island, Fla.) scored four goals to pace the Bombers. His fourth-quarter goal stretched Ithaca's lead to 11-9 and proved to be the game-winning goal. Senior attackman Matt Cutter (Needham/Needham, Mass.) scored two goals for Ithaca. The other Bomber goals were scored by sophomore Jay Lucas (Fox Lane/Bedford Hills), junior Nick Powers (Bridgewater-Raritan/Raritan, N.J.), senior Mike Giunta (Henderson/West Chester, Pa.), senior Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) and sophomore Mike Silipo (Williston Northampton/Deerfield, Mass.).
Sophomore goalie David Gal (Loomis Chaffee/Amherst, Mass.) made 15 saves and improved his record to 13-1 on the year. Junior midfielder Nick Neuman (Madison West/Madison, Wis.) won 13 faceoffs and led the Bombers with six ground balls.
