Claremont, Calif.—The Bombers (3-2) routed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 13-2 Friday evening. Senior righthhander Pete MacDaniel (Scuylerville/Gansevoort) pitched a complete game, holding the Stags (7-8) to just one earned run. Senior Dylan Perez (Conval Regional/Peterborough, N.H.) and sophomore David Ahonen (Victor/Farmington) each hit home runs in the victory.
Ithaca got all the offense it needed in the first inning, with Perez's homer driving in a pair of runs. The Bombers tacked on a pair of unearned runs, taking advantage of three Claremont errors.
Ahonen's shot came in the third inning to stretch the Ithaca lead to 5-1. Holding a 6-2 lead in the seventh inning, the Bombers blew open the game with seven runs over the final two innings of the eight-inning game.
MacDaniel scattered seven hits over eight innings, striking out five. He did not walk a batter. He is now 2-0 through two starts this season.
The Bombers scored their 13 runs on 11 hits and nine walks, as well as a pair of hit batsmen. Perez drove in three runs, with Ahonen, junior #T.J. Abone# (Rome/Rome Free Academy) and sophomore Matt Streich (East Greenwich/East Greenwich, R.I.) each picking up a pair of RBI.
