Orange, Calif.—The Bombers (2-2) lost to Chapman (14-5) Wednesday, falling 5-2 to the 11th-ranked Panthers. Sophomore David Ahonen (Victor/Farmington) homered for Ithaca, with senior Matt Samela (Staples/Westport, Conn.) picking up three hits.

After being outscored 4-0 over the game's first six innings, Ithaca got on the scoreboard with Ahonen's solo home run to lead off the top of the seventh. Ahonen also scored the Bombers' second run, coming home an Samela's RBI single in the ninth.

Ahonen went 2-for-4 in the game, with Samela going 3-for-4 with a double. Senior Dylan Perez (Conval Regional/Peterborough, N.H.) and junior Brian Grastorf (Niskayuna/Rexford) also collected base hits for Ithaca.

Junior Tom Fishback (Penfield/Webster) was the tough luck loser for the Bombers. In seven innings, he allowed just two earned runs. Fishback struck out three batters.

Ithaca returns to action Firday with a 5:30 p.m. EST game at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
