ITHACA, N.Y. – The #6 Cortland Red Dragons (15-0) scored all of their goals in the second half of a 5-0 field hockey win at Ithaca Wednesday afternoon at Yavits Field.
Ithaca held the nation's sixth-ranked team scoreless for the first 41 minutes, 36 seconds in the contest before the Red Dragons scored all of their goals in the final 30 minutes.
Bomber senior goalkeeper Chelsea Welsh (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia) made 16 saves in the game, her highest total this season and second best total of her career.
Ithaca's best scoring chance came late in the second half when junior forward Katherine Brown (Akron/Akron) collected her own rebound in front of the goal and neatly flipped a shot toward net that was denied by the Cortland goalkeeper.
Ithaca returns to action Saturday with a game at Oswego at 1 p.m.
