Fox's Late Goal Gives Ithaca Field Hockey Victory Over Nazareth

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca field hockey team (3-8, 1-3 Empire 8) scored the game-winning goal with 1:05 remaining in the second half in a 2-1 win at Nazareth (6-6, 1-3 Empire 8).

Junior back Key Fox (Hunterdon Central [N.J.]/Solebury, Pa.) scored the game-winner, her second goal of the year, on an assist from freshman forward Amanda Rissmeyer (Watchung Hills Regional/Millington, N.J.). The winning goal came off of a penalty corner.

Junior forward Katherine Brown (Akron/Akron) opened the scoring for Ithaca in the first half. Her goal in the 11th minute was unassisted. Brown leads Ithaca in overall scoring with 12 points on three goals and six assists.

Senior goalkeeper Chelsea Welsh (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia) made 17 saves, her highest single-game total this season and the second best of her career. The Bombers held a 10-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Ithaca hosts non-league foe Rochester at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Yavits Field.
