#17 Bombers Rally to Defeat Saxons

Sean Leahy recorded his first double-double of the season.

Alfred, N.Y.--Down by as many as nine points in the first half, the 17th-ranked men's basketball team rallied in the second to defeat Alfred 75-64. The Bombers (10-0, 2-0) are the only undefeated team in the Empire 8, and their ten game win streak matches the third longest in school history. Sunday's win was the team's seventh straight over Alfred (4-6, 0-2).

Senior forward Sean Leahy (West Genesee/Syracuse) recorded a double-double in the win with 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

The Bombers took their first lead of the afternoon shortly into the second half, with a layup from sophomore Chris Cruz (West Genesee/Camillus) giving Ithaca a 46-45 lead. The two team's played within three points of each other until three-pointers from Leahy and fellow senior Sean Burton (Notre Dame/Yorkville) started a 10-0 Ithaca run that turned a 61-61 tie into a 71-61 advantage with just over two minutes to play, sealing the Bombers' tenth straight victory.

Burton led all players with 18 points. Senior Brendan Rogers (Liverpool/Liverpool) notched 14 with Cruz adding 10.

Senior Jeff Bostic (Geneva/Geneva), who left Friday's game with injury, tallied eight points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes.

Ithaca returns home Tuesday for an Empire 8 matchup with Utica.
