Volleyball Falls to Widener in Tournament Semifinal

Jen Heberton's 21 kills were a career high.
ITHACA, N.Y--Playing in the semifinal round of the Bomber Invitational, Ithaca volleyball lost to Widener 25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20. The Bombers (5-2), saw their five match win streak end.

The loss came despite a strong a offensive performance from Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Conn.). The junior hitter set a new career-best with 21 kills, breaking her previous best of 20 set in last year's ECAC Championship against Vassar.

Heberton was also one of five Bombers to reach double-figures in digs, with sophomore Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lake Oswego, Ore.) leading the team with 18.

Ithaca continued its strong serving this year, picking up 14 aces in the four sets, with Horton leading with four. In seven matches this season, the Bombers have tallied 74 aces.

The Bombers will place for third-place in the tournament Saturday at 4 p.m. against New York University.
