Rochester, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's tennis team (0-1) dropped its season-opening match to Rochester (1-0) 5-3 on Saturday in the Flower City Tournament.

Freshmen Jimmy Newton (Florida Virtual School/Englewood, Fla.) and Mike Muraco (Fayetteville-Manlius/Manlius) picked up a doubles victory by a score of 8-5 in second doubles.

Taylor Borda (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.) defeated Ryan Kovaleski in first singles 6-3, 3-6, 10-7. Borda's match was the only one to reach three sets.

Josh Rifkin (Homestead/Ft. Wayne, Ind.) recorded the Bombers' other win in singles play, beating Bennett Peterson 6-4, 6-3 in third singles.

The Bombers continue play at the Flower City Tournament Sunday.
