Clinton, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team defeated Hartwick 126-117 and lost against Hamilton 136-107 and Geneseo 155-88 in a quad meet Saturday at Hamilton. The Bombers won four events in the meet and are 5-3 in dual meet competition this year.
Sophomore Joe Gage (Edwin Oscar Smith/Storrs, Conn.) was a part of three of those wins for the Bombers as he won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.60, the 500 free in 4:52.12 and anchored Ithaca's winning 400 free relay team (3:17.86). Freshman Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) led off that winning relay and also won the 50 free (22.08 seconds) and finished third in the 100 free (48.99 seconds).
The other members of the 400 free relay quartet were senior Shane Hamman (Henderson/West Chester, Pa.) and sophomore Steve Croucher (Dallastown Area/York, Pa.).
Sophomore diver Mike Glicini (Dallas/Dallas, Pa.) was second in the 3-meter diving event with 191.90 points and freshman Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) was second on the 1-meter board with 200.85 points.
Freshman Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) was second in the 200 back with a time of 2:03.41.
The Bombers will return to action Dec. 5-7 at the Don Richards Invitational at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
