Cortland, N.Y. -- The women’s swimming & diving team fell to Cortland in its second match of the season 168-75. Junior Kelly Turpin (Mounds Park Academy/Saint Paul, Minn.) was Ithaca’s top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke with a winning time of 1:02.47. Sophomore #Lauren Botterbusch# (Dallastown/York, Penn.) finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with 1:10.79 and third in the 200-yard I.M. with a time of 2:18.72.

 

Freshman Shannon Archer (Niskayuna/Scotia) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.18 followed by junior #Gabby Faiella# (Our Lady of Mercy Academy/North Bellmore) in fourth with a time of 2:08.59. Archer placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:22.72. 

 

Junior Kim Wheeler (Southern Cayuga Central/Genoa) finished third in the 200-yard butterfly followed by teammate Kelsey Gliesing (Joel Barlow/Redding, Conn.) in fourth. Wheeler recorded a time of 1:05.28 and Gliesing recorded a time of 1:05.49. Classmate Kristin Schwartz (Concord-Carlisle Regional/Concord, Mass.) placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.35.

 

Ithaca recorded a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay with juniors Kelly Turpin (Mounds Park Academy/Saint Paul Minn.), #Kara Senecal# (Drury/North Adams, Mass.) #Kristin Schwartz# (Concord-Carlisle Regional/Concord, Mass.) and freshman Shannon Archer (Niskayuna/Scotia) posting a time of 55.82.
