Biography
2006-07: Turpin ranked seventh on the team in points as a junior and qualified for the NCAA championships as a member of the 200- and 400-yard medley relay teams. She captured the state and conference title in the 400-yard medley relay and won her third straight conference title in the 100-yard backstroke. The 200-yard medley relay team also set the school and conference records last season. Turpin was also a member of the conference runner-up 800-yard freestyle relay team.
2005-06: Turpin was a two-time NCAA qualifier, recording “B” cuts in the 100- and 200- yard backstroke, and was a four-time NYSWCAA and Empire 8 champion, winning titles in the 100-yard backstroke and with the 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay teams. She also placed second in the individual medley at the conference championships, which was good for 14th at the state championships. Turpin’s national qualifying time of 59.70 in the 100-yard backstroke is fourth on the Bombers’ all-time list. She recorded eight top-three finishes and ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 229.25 points.
2004-05: Turpin was Ithaca’s lone state champion in the 2004-05 campaign. She finished first at the NYSCTC meet hosted by Le Moyne in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.04, the fourth-fastest time in Ithaca history. She finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.93, an NCAA “B” qualifying time for the national championships and the third-fastest time in Ithaca history. Turpin posted seven top-ten finishes in the meet, and was All-NYSCTC in the 200-, 400-, and 800-yard freestyle relays (the 200-yard team was Empire 8 Champion), as well as the 400-yard medley relay.
High School: A 2004 graduate of Mounds Park Academy, Turpin was coached by Paul Lundsten of the Star Swim Club.
Personal: A vocal performance major, she is the daughter of Rusty and Ellen Turpin.
