Ithaca Sweeps St. John Fisher, 14-8 and 11-4

Ithaca, N.Y. -- Junior infielder Rob Litz (Walkill/Walkill) led the offense in the opener of the St. John Fisher sweep, doubling twice and finishing with three hits and three runs. Senior second baseman Marty O’Boyle (Verona/Verona, N.J.) collected two hits and two RBI’s and scored two runs. Junior outfielder  Kyle Rutherford (New Milford/New Milford, Conn.) added two hits and three RBI’s and junior outfielder PJ Canestrari (Randolph/Ironia, N.J.) scored three runs. Sophomore Jeremy Peters (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica) earned his first career win with three innings of relief.

Senior Tom O’Connor (Weedsport/Weedsport) earned the win – the 19th of his career – in game two, allowing seven hits in the complete game. He’s one win away from becoming the 12th Bomber with 20 career victories. Freshman third baseman Josh Smith (Pulaski/Pulaski) drove in four runs and O’Boyle collected three hits. Smith, Canestrari, junior infielder Rob Litz (Walkill/Walkill) and sophomore outfielder Eric Maya (Rome Free Academy/Rome) each had two hits. Senior outfielder Ben McBride (Ridgefield/Ridgefield, Conn.) scored three runs.
