Biography

2005: Rutherford earned second-team Empire 8 all-star honors after ranking among the team leaders in batting average (fourth), doubles (fourth), hits (sixth), RBIs (sixth) and stolen bases (sixth). He set a school record with four doubles in a win at St. Lawrence; his five hits were one short of the Bomber single-game record. Rutherford went 3-for3 with four RBIs in a win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
 
2004: Rutherford was third on the team with 12 stolen bases. His three outfield assists led all Bomber outfielders. In a win over St. Lawrence Rutherford went 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs. He had another three-RBI effort against Oswego.

2003: Rutherford started 10 games, third among the team’s freshmen. He collected his first two hits in a win at New Paltz. Rutherford drove in two runs in both ends of the Hartwick sweep. He hit his first career home run in a victory at Keuka.

High School: A 2002 graduate of New Milford High School, Rutherford was coached by John Wrenn.

Personal: A business administration major, he is the son of Daniel and Kathy Rutherford. He has lettered as a running back and wide receiver with Ithaca’s football team.
