MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Ithaca College baseball team suffered its second loss in South Carolina on Sunday afternoon as the Bombers dropped a 15-3 decision to The College of New Jersey. Ithaca is now 5-4 on the season.
IC fell behind TCNJ, 7-0, after three innings and was never able to get back into the game. The Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the first, two in the second and two more in the third.
The Bombers were shutout until the seventh as
Ben Raspanti drew a bases loaded walk and then
Merrick Sullivan drove home another run on a fielder's choice to make it 7-2. TCNJ responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and five runs in the eighth to put the game away.
Ithaca scored once more in the ninth on a solo home run by
Nate Rodriguez.
Five pitchers appeared in the contest and
Ben Ruth struck out five batters in 4.1 innings of relief.
The Bombers play Ursinus tomorrow evening for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
