ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team concluded the first day of the Liberty League Outdoor Championships at the University of Rochester in third place with 51 points. IC is just one point behind Rochester for second, while RPI holds a commanding 36-point lead with 88 heading into Saturday's action.
The Bombers earned 23 points in the pole vault with five top eight finishes.
Brendan Sheehan,
Callum Howald and
Dom Mikula all cleared 4.58 meters to place second-to-fourth, while
Shaun Herlihy was sixth with a mark of 4.43 meters and
Robert George placed eighth with a clearance of 4.13 meters.
Justin Showstead was the runner-up in the javelin with a mark of 53.78 meters and placed third in the hammer throw at 52.67 meters.
Daniel Hutchinson claimed second in the long jump at 7.22 meters, while
Patrick Bierach took third in the steeplechase with a time of 9:44.70.
Nathaniel Oczkowski will run in tomorrow's 110-meter hurdles final after posting the best prelim time at 14.99 seconds. Oczkowski also secured the fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles with a performance of 53.92 seconds, which was nearly three seconds faster than the runner-up.
Andy Frank and
Anthony D'Addetta qualified for the 100-meter dash final as Frank finished the prelim in first at 10.84 seconds and D'Addetta was fourth with a time of 11.06 seconds. Frank will also be seeded third in the 200-meter dash after a prelim of 21.97 seconds.
Matt Lokshin will also run in the 400 hurdles final after a seventh place finish in the prelim at 58.81 seconds.
