POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Ithaca College golf team traveled down to Casperkill Golf Club to compete in the Vassar College Invitational on April 1. Ithaca was one of eight schools in action on the par-72, 5810-yard course and 39 golfers finished their round.
New York University won the team title with a plus-2, 290, while Wellesley finished second with a plus-17, 305.
For Ithaca,
Cristea Park fired a career-low round of 73 (+1) to finish fourth overall. Park was even par after the front nine and then carded two birdies on the back nine. She birded the par-4 11th hole and par-4 15th. Park was one under until a double bogey on the 17th.
Annika Michel tied for fifth with a career-best 74 (+2) as she shaved seven shots off her low round from the fall. Michel spent the offseason working on a swing change and it paid off for her on Saturday as she carded 12 pars and two birdies. She went one under after the second hole with a birdie on the par-4 2nd and then fired another birdie on the par-4 17th.
Rheanna DeCrow shot an 82 (+10) to finish 21st overall. DeCrow recorded nine pars on the round.
Ithaca will remain at Vassar tomorrow for a different tournament, the Vassar College Classic.
