ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team celebrated its senior class ahead of the start of the Bomber Invitational on Saturday, in what was the final home meet of the season for IC. The multi events will conclude the Bomber Invitational on Sunday.
Justin Showstead reset his own school record in the shot put at 15.67 meters (51' 5") to win the event, surpassing his previous mark of 15.39. Showstead also competed in the weight throw and finished fourth at 15.24 meters (50').
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne was once again a first place performer in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.86 seconds, while
Andy Frank took third in 7.03. Leonard-Osbourne also posted the fastest prelim time of 6.91, while Frank was 7.11 (7.105).
Frank also won the 200-meter dash in 21.99 seconds, which ranks eighth in Division III.
Daniel Hutchinson was a second place performer on the long jump with a mark of 6.68 meters (21' 11").
Nathaniel Oczkowski clocked in at 8.45 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to finish in third. Oczkowski advanced to the final with a prelim performance of 8.52.
IC's 4x200-meter relay of
CJ Jones,
Tyrell Penalba,
Nicholas Reyes and
Theo Marston took third in a time of 1:36.00.
Dom Mikula cleared 4.71 meters (15' 5.5") in the pole vault to place fourth overall, while
Shaun Herlihy was fifth at 4.56 meters (14' 11.5").
Conor Ryan claimed fourth in the 400-meter dash at 52.04, while
Ian Ertel was sixth in 52.35.
Alex Whatley took fourth in the 800-meter run at 1:58.30.
Patrick Bierach took sixth place overall in the opening event of the Bomber Invite, the 5000-meter run, as he clocked a time of 16:23.18.
The 4x400-meter relay of
Jonathan Sadanaga,
Kevin McNamara,
Matthew Andersen and
Carter Rothwell finished sixth in 3:45.58.
The heptathlon concluded on Sunday and Sheehan finished in fifth with 4505 points. Sheehan won the shot put and pole vault with marks of 12.82 meters and 4.60 meters. He would then place fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at 7.28 seconds and was sixth in the long jump at 6.37 meters.
Ithaca will split its squad next week with a meet at RIT on February 10 and the Boston University Valentine Invitational on the 10th and 11th.
