ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 23 Ithaca College volleyball took down host RIT in straight sets at the Brick City Invitational to open the weekend tournament. Ithaca took the match, 27-25, 25-8, 25-18, to run its win streak to 10 matches and improves its overall record to 14-3.
It was a tight first set that went extra points, but the Bombers eventually prevailed, 27-25,
Naomi Clauhs and
Faith Sabatier put down the final two kills to give IC a 1-0 lead. The Bombers racked up 19 kills in the set and hit .224 to RIT's .128.
"RIT is well-coached and has moments of playing very well," said head coach
Johan Dulfer. "To almost lose a set while earning 19 kills in unusual and a credit to RIT. I thought we rose to the challenge in the second and third set with out serving game. That was the difference tonight."

IC made quick work of the Tigers in the second set, 25-8, behind an impressive .467 (17-3-40) hitting percentage to just -.040 (3-4-25) from RIT. The Bombers jumped out to an 8-1 lead, and after a service error, pushed the difference to 13-2 to put the set out of reach.
RIT lead, 14-13, in the third set, but IC secured the sweep with a 12-4 run the rest of the way as the Bombers racked up 13 more kills.
