Bombers Claim Six Different Liberty League Award Winners for April 25

ITHACA, N.Y. – Headlined by Ithaca College senior Logan Bruce, the Field Athlete of the Week in women's track and field, who notched the second-best heptathlon score in the nation over weekend, the Bombers claimed a total of six of the weekly Liberty League awards. Along with Bruce, Taylor Crain was named Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, in men's rowing the Ithaca Varsity Eight were named the Boat of the Week, while the Ithaca Novice Four claimed Novice Boat of the Week. Rounding up the award winners was the Ithaca Varsity Eight who were named the Women's Rowing Boat of the Week, while Kevin Danaher took home the Men's Outdoor Field Performer of the Week.

Each was recognized for their outstanding play in their respective sports during the week of April 18-24.

Women's Outdoor Track & Field: Field Performer of the Week- Logan Bruce
Logan Bruce notched the second-best heptathlon score in the nation with a total of 5006 points as she finished in the top three in all seven events at Geneseo over the weekend. Two of Bruce's events, the 100-meter hurdles and high jump, rank within the top 18 in Division III.

Men's Outdoor Track & Field: Field Performer of the Week- Kevin Danaher
Kevin Danaher set two school records at Geneseo over the weekend as he won the shot put at 16.22 meters, ranking eighth in Division III, and placed second in the discus with a mark of 48.06 meters.

Men's Rowing Boat of the Week- Ithaca Varsity Eight
The Bombers 1V which included coxswain Zoe Foster, Sam Bickham, Colin McCarthy, Wesley Hoglin, Griffin Hunt, Gregg Seiz, Henry Grant, Seth Freeman and Steven Van Hoof faced off against crews from Union, Army, Vassar, and Skidmore at the NYS Championships.

The 1V took first place with a final time of 6:06.00 ahead of Army who went 6:09.70.

Men's Rowing Novice Boat of the Week- Ithaca Novice Four
The novice four raced in a flight with crews from Stony Brook College, Iona College, and Buffalo State College. The four's lineup included coxswain Miles Kenaston, Anthony De Lapi, Finn Ward, Jonah Alefantis and Caleb Grassi. The four finished the 2000m course in 7:49.00 placing first ahead of Iona College who went 8:16.31.

Women's Rowing Boat of the Week- Ithaca Varsity Eight
The first race of the day for IC featured the women's 1V. The lineup consisted of Michelle Hyland, Allison Arndt, Laura Trainor, Dania Bogdanovic, Taylor Volmrich, Izzy Ozkurt, Glenn Hartley, Karley Whalen, and Eliza Worth. The Bombers faced off against crews from Marist, University of Rochester, Skidmore, Manhattan, and St. John Fisher. The Bombers took first place with a final time of 7:00.00 finishing ahead of University of Rochester who went 7:11.58.

The Bombers earned themselves a spot in the final. In the 1V final, later in the day, IC would face off against Canisus, Colgate, Marist, University of Rochester, and Skidmore. The Bombers went 6:54.35 placing second in a close finish behind Marist who went 6:52.080.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week- Taylor Crain
The first year put together arguably her top performance of the season at the No. 1 slot as she was victorious over the No. 16 regionally ranked Alex Mednikova of RPI. She faced off against Mednikova and won the first set 7-6, dropped the second 6-7 and fought back to win the third set 11-9. Taylor Crain then followed it up by defeating Bard's Maya Kelly by scores of 6-1 and 6-1 on Sunday. With her latest singles win Taylor Crain improved to 11-5 overall.

HONOR ROLL
Nicholas Cutaia went 7-for-14 (.500) with three runs scored, three RBI, two walks, a double and home run during a 2-2 week for Ithaca. He had at least one hit in all four games, including a 2-for-4 contest against Brockport with a double and 3-for-4 vs. No. 22 Rochester with two RBI, two runs and a home run in the 14-8 win.

Kyle Lambert shut down the high-powered No. 22 Rochester offense on Saturday during Ithaca's 5-2 win as he tossed 8.0 innings and struck out 10 batters to just two walks allowed. Lambert scattered five hits and allowed two earned runs.

Drew Turner netted a season-high three goals against No. 4 Union College, while also collecting a pair of ground balls. The junior midfielder helped spark a comeback attempt as the Bombers cut the deficit to four goals at 13-9 with 13:42 remaining, but the Dutchmen closed on a 6-2 scoring run to earn the 19-11 decision over the Bombers. He also tallied a goal against SUNY Cortland earlier in the week.

Maizy Veitch tallied two goals and three assists during Ithaca's 13-6 win over St. John FIsher. The second goal of the day for Veitch gave her 50 on the season.

Rachel Rosenberg was all over the field during Ithaca's 13-6 win over St. John Fisher has she scooped up five groundballs, caused three turnovers, won two draws and added one assist.

Tava Kasper went 5-of-16 at the plate with two doubles, seven RBI and a home run in a 3-3 week that saw the Bombers post a sweep over Skidmore and split with RPI. The junior shortstop was all over the field defensively making a pair of diving stops during the weekend twinbill against the Thoroughbreds. She also had a 2-for-3 performance with a double and RBI in Ithaca's narrow 3-2 loss to Cornell University.

Riley Piromalli had an impressive week for the Bombers going 2-1 with key conference wins over both Skidmore and RPI. Against the Thoroughbreds, she picked up the complete game shutout win totaling nine strikeouts while limiting them to just four hits. She also pitched an inning of relief in the second game of the doubleheader where she picked up another punchout. Piromalli gave up three earned runs and limited RPI to seven hits with nine more strikeouts in the 4-3 win over the Engineers.

Andy Frank won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.67 seconds, placed second in the 100-meter dash at 10.88 seconds and ran the anchor leg on the first place 4x100-meter relay that finished in 41.94 seconds at Geneseo over the weekend.

Martha Kemp-Neilson cleared 3.80 meters in the pole vault to win the event and move up to seventh in the country after her performance at Geneseo.
