CAMDEN, N.J. - The Ithaca College men's rowing team traveled to Camden, New Jersey this weekend to compete in the Knecht Cup Regatta. The travel squad consisted of both the first and second varsity lineups. The 48-hour road trip offered multiple racing opportunities for each lineup allowing the Bombers to face off against a wide variety of competition at the nationally recognized regatta. Â

The first race of the day on Saturday for the Bombers featured the men's varsity eight. The top boat featured

Colin McCarthy,
Wesley Hoglin,
Dehron Smith,
James Ross,
Henry Grant,
Seth Freeman and
Steven Van Hoof. The Bomber's heat of the event included crews from Michigan, Virginia, Delaware, George Mason and the University of Connecticut. The Bombers placed fifth with a final time of 6:18.81 behind George Mason who completed the course in 6:16.78. Â

The men's varsity eight also had the opportunity to race in a semifinal on Saturday in a heat which included Michigan, MIT, Bucknell, Army and Maryland. The boat placed fourth in the semifinal with a final time of 6:18.79, a slight improvement from the morning race where they went 6:18.81. IC finished behind Bucknell by about two seconds. Â

Based on their race results from Saturday, the 1V was slated to race in the petite final on Sunday. The heat featured crews from George Mason, Bucknell and Trinity as well as Adrian and Delaware. The Bombers finished the course in 6:16.33 placing them sixth just behind George Mason, who went 6:15.63. Â

As for the second varsity eight, their first heat on Saturday featured a variety of competition including Michigan, Trinity and MIT. The Bombers lineup featured coxswain

Mac Morean The 2V placed fourth with a final time of 6:33.24 compared to the third-place finish of Trinity College with a time of 6:29.66Â

On Sunday, the 2V earned a spot in the petite final where they faced crews from Marist and Trinity in a three-lane race. The Bombers finished with a final time of 6:36.62 placing second behind Marist who completed the course in 6:33.13Â

All in all, it was a great weekend of racing opportunities for the Bombers at the large-scale Knecht Cup Regatta. The Bombers will travel home where they will train to take on their Liberty League rivals, the RIT Tigers, next Saturday on the Cayuga Inlet. Â
