SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Ithaca College gymnastics team qualified for this season's NCGA Nationals today with a third place finish at the organization's regional competition held at Springfield College. The Bombers finished with a team score of 189.800, over two and a half points above their season average.
 
Ithaca took second in three out of the four events but ultimately fell behind rivals No.1 SUNY Brockport (192.800) and host No.10 Springfield College (190.300) in the final team score.
 
Senior Amelia Bailey and junior Nya Pauldon took home the top scores of the afternoon for the Bombers, both recording a 9.700 on beam and vault, respectively. Bailey's score landed her in a four-way tie for second place on beam at regionals while Pauldon's performances earned her a three-way tie for third on vault.
 
First-year Skye Cohen finished in second place in the All-Around competition with a 37.700, just 0.550 points behind Rhode Island College's Olivia Keyes.
 
The Bombers first rotation on floor earned the team a 47.825 in the event for second overall. First-year Jillian Freyman, whose floor routine is ranked 13th nationally, was the only Ithaca performer to finish in the event's top ten. Just 0.025 points below her season best, Freyman finished in a three-way tie for ninth with a 9.675.
 
First-year Nicole Lonski's performance on floor earned her a tie for 13th with a 9.625 while Cohen tied for 15th at 9.600. Fellow first-year Caitlin Pellegrino rounded out the top 20 for Ithaca with a 9.475 in a tie for 20th place.
 
Bailey (9.450) and sophomore Cassidy Gallivan (9.425) also competed on floor for IC.
 
Ithaca's next rotation on vault garnered a 47.900 total score for the team, grabbing second in the event overall after Brockport's 48.525. Two Bomber performers finished in the event's top t10 while two more finished in the top 20.
 
Behind Pauldon's third place finish, Freyman took a three-way tie for seventh with a 9.625. Cohen and Gallivan tied for 14th place with two other gymnasts at 9.550.
 
First-years Kaylie Goodwin (9.475) and Dallas Rachal (9.125) also performed on vault for Ithaca.
 
IC's third rotation took the team to bars where they earned a 47.200 team score for second overall. Two Ithaca gymnasts finished in the top 10 while three more grabbed spots within the top 20 finishers.
 
Lonski took the top spot-on bars for Ithaca, finishing in a tie for second place with Brockport's Emma Grace Sargent at 9.575. Senior Julia O'Sullivan followed behind in a tie for ninth overall with a 9.500.
 
Junior Cameryn Nichols took 11th with a 9.450 while Cohen finished in a tie for sixteenth at 9.350. Junior Zoe Kyriakopoulos took 18th with a 9.325.
 
First-year Marlena Bailey also competed on bars for IC, taking 21st place overall at 9.200.
 
The Bombers' final rotation on beam earned IC a 46.875 for third place in the event behind Springfield and Brockport. While only one performer finished in the event's top 10, two more Ithaca gymnasts took top 20 spots.
 
After A. Bailey's second place finish, junior Ai-Zhen Tung took 14th at 9.550. O'Sullivan rounded out the top 20 for Ithaca at 9.250 for 20th place.
 
Cohen (9.200) and Freyman (9.175) followed close behind O'Sullivan, finishing in 21st and 22nd place, respectively. Kyriakopoulos (8.800) also competed on balance beam for Ithaca.
 
With its finish today, the Bombers are now set to compete in the NCGA National Championships on March 26. The event will be held at IC's home venue, Ben Light Gymnasium.
