ITHACA, N.Y. -Â In the team's first home meet in almost two years, the No. 7 Ithaca College gymnastics team fell to No. 2 SUNY Brockport in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles posted a 192.275 team score compared to IC's 187.425. Though not enough to defeat the Golden Eagles, the Bombers' team score today was their highest so far this season by over three points.Â

Jillian Freyman highlighted the afternoon for Ithaca, earning a 9.750 on floor and a 9.725 on beam. Both scores were the first-year's highest this season.Â

The Golden Eagles started the afternoon strong, winning both the uneven bars and vault in the first and second rotations. The team recorded a 48.425 and a 47.925, respectively, in those events.Â
Brockport's Gabbi Gare snagged the highest bars score of the afternoon with a 9.775. Teammates Alexis Castellaneta and Sydney Schumaker took the top spots on vault, both scoring a 9.700.Â
Ithaca's first rotation on vault earned the team a 46.775, highlighted by
Cassidy Gallivan's 9.400 score. Five of the six Bombers scored a 9.325 or higher on the vault exercise.Â
Junior
Cameryn Nichols led the Bombers in their second rotation on bars, notching a 9.400.
Skye Cohen (9.375),
Marlena Bailey (9.325), and
Julia O'Sullivan (9.300) also competed for IC on the uneven bars.Â
Ithaca still finished behind Brockport on bars and vault, with team scores of 46.475 and 46.775 respectively.Â
Brockport continued their dominance in their final rotation on the balance beam, tallying a total score of 47.950. Castellaneta and teammate Natalie Galioto both recorded a 9.750 on beam, the highest score of the afternoon for the event

IC finished with a 46.100 total score on balance beam. Behind Freyman, senior
Amelia Bailey (9.550) and junior
Ai-Zhen Tung (9.400) recorded impressive scores for Ithaca on beam.Â

In their final event of the day, the Bombers took the floor exercise from the Golden Eagles by just a tenth of point, 48.075 to 47.975.Â

After Freyman's 9.750, Cohen (9.675) took fourth overall on floor.
Amelia Bailey and sophomore Megan tied for sixth overall, both with a score of 9.600.Â

Brockport's Naimah Muhammad took the top spot on the floor exercise with a 9.800, the highest score of the entire meet.Â
Next up, the Bombers will travel east to Springfield, Mass. to take on NCGA rivals Springfield College this Sunday, Feb. 6 with start time slated for 1 p.m.
