Gymnastics Competes in First Meet in Nearly Two Years at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team made its highly-anticipated return to action as IC traveled to Brockport on Saturday to compete in a tri-meet with Cortland. The Bombers haven't competed in a meet in nearly two years due to the pandemic and posted a team score of 183.850 on the day to go 1-1. Brockport, the 2019 NCGA national champions, scored 187.275 and Cortland finished with 180.000.

The Bombers opened competition on the vault and were extremely consistent across all six gymnasts.

Kaylie Goodwin led the way on the vault with a 9.350 as she scored 9.40 on her first run and 9.30 on her second attempt. Meghan Bell, Jillian Freyman, Cassidy Gallivan and Nya Pauldon all posted scores of 9.325. Dallas Rachal finished the vault with 9.250.

IC then moved over to the bars and scored 44.450.

Zoe Kyriakopoulos was the top performer in the event with 8.975, while Goodwin and Julia O'Sullivan each posted 8.925. Nicole Lonski finished with 8.875 and Marlena Bailey registered a score of 8.750. Skye Cohen also competed on the bars and scored 8.125.

The third rotation took the Bombers over to the floor and registered 46.750 for their highest score of the meet.

IC's highest individual scores of the day came on the floor as Freyman and Lonski each posted 9.575. Amelia Bailey and Caitlin Pellegrino saw their first action of the meet, and both finished the floor with 9.275. Goodwin appeared in her third event of the day and finished the floor with 9.050, while Gallivan returned to action and recorded a score of 8.350.

IC wrapped up on the beam and capped off the tri-meet with 46.000.

Goodwin was the top performer for IC with 9.325, while Kryiakopoulus posted a score of 9.275. A. Bailey registered her second 9.0-plus performance of the day with 9.200, while O'Sullivan logged 9.125 and Pauldon scored 9.075. Freyman finished the beam with a score of 8.275.

The Bombers travel to Ursinus College next Saturday, January 22 to compete in a quad meet with Cortland, Springfield and Ursinus.
