PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team held a lead at the AARTFC Championships at St. John Fisher College late into the competition but came away with a third place finish. Ithaca tallied 79 points, narrowly behind Carnegie Mellon in second with 80, and the champions from SUNY Brockport with 84 points.
Nathaniel Oczkowski was a runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 53.90 seconds, while
Andy Frank took second in the 200-meter dash in 21.86 seconds and third in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 10.88 seconds.
The 4x800-meter relay of
Joshua Endy,
Zachary Wachs,
Alec Hofer and
Alex Whatley were barely edged out for the top spotting, clocking a time of 7:55.41.
Aaron Davis claimed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.12 meters, while
Robert Greenwald secured fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.96 meters.
Chris Singer finished seventh in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.45, while Endy came in 11th at 4:05.34.
Zachary Woodruff clocked in at 58.48 seconds in the 400 hurdles to finish in seventh, Whatley was an eighth place performer in the 800-meter run at 1:57.45.
Akap Takor was a ninth place finisher in the long jump with a leap of 6.95 meters.
Brendan Sheehan posted a mark of 41.46 meters in the discus to place ninth overall, while
Justin Showstead took 15th at 37.42 meters.
Luke Tobia and Showstead competed in the shot put and finished 13th and 15th with marks of 13.58 and 13.25 meters.
Ithaca will find out on Friday, May 21 what student-athletes have qualified for the NCAA Championships in Greensboro, N.C., which take place on May 27-29.
