School Records Fall as Men’s Track & Field Wins at Naz

RESULTS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
The Ithaca College men's track & field team returned to action for the first time in exactly one year on Saturday as the Bombers took a trip up to Rochester to compete at Nazareth College. Ithaca won the highly contested meet with 208 points as two school records were set on the day.
 
St. John Fisher College was the runner-up with 200 points, while Houghton College placed third with 79 and Nazareth came in fourth at 49. Sage Colleges posted 23 points to finish fifth and Alfred University was sixth with 19 points.

The Bombers secured victories in nine of the 16 events on the day and set two new school records, while tying another.
 
First-year Jalen Leonard-Osbourne exploded on the scene in his collegiate debut as he won the 60-meter dash in a school record time of 6.92 seconds to break the previous record of 6.93 second set by Rashaad Barrett in 2015. Leonard-Osbourne also set a facility record and ranks 12th in Division III.
 
Junior Daniel Monchek re-established his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a first place time of 8.48 seconds, besting his previous best time of 8.51 seconds set in 2018.
 
Junior Dom Mikula matched his school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.00 meters (16 feet, 4.75 inches) to finish second overall, but first among college entries. The mark places Mikula third in DIII. 
 
Sophomore Andy Frank took first in a pair of events on Saturday as he won the 400-meter dash in 50.71 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.50 seconds.
 
Junior Luke Tobia was a two-time winner as well with top marks of 17.89 meters (58' 8.5") in the weight throw and 14.50 meters (47' 7") in the shot put.
 
Junior Joshua Endy posted a time of 4:25.34 in the mile to finish first overall, while junior Zachary Wachs claimed first in the 800-meter run in 1:59.75. Graduate student Jacob Lange cross first in the 3,000-meter run in 8:55.00, while junior Timothy Cook followed in second at 8:55.76.
 
Sophomore Ryan Mederios secured a second place showing in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:07.75, which was just .34 seconds behind the winner of the event.
 
IC entered two relay teams in the 4x400. The 'A' relay of Endy, Wachs, junior Alec Hofer and first-year Conor Ryan finished second overall in 3:36.17. The 'B' team of Lange, Cook, first-year Matt Morgan and senior Zachary Woodruff were third in 3:44.52.
 
Junior Matthew Tai took runner-up honors in the 60 in a time of 7.27 seconds, while first-year Jordyn Harrigan followed in third at 7.31 seconds. First-year Aaron Davis clocked a time of 23.24 seconds in the 200 to place third overall.
 
Sophomore Callum Howald posted a mark of 4.40 meters (14' 5.25") in the pole vault to come in third, while first-year Brendan Sheehan was fourth at the same mark but finished one place behind due to total attempts.
 
Ryan, first-year Jon Sadanaga and Hofer placed third-to-fifth in the 800 with times of 2:00.63, 2:02.49 and 2:08.75.
 
Three other Bombers also went third-to-fifth in the long jump. First-year Spence Whitmore measured out 6.46 meters (21' 2.5") to place third, Monchek was fourth at 6.45 meters (21' 2") and Davis followed in fifth at 6.32 meters (20' 9").
 
Senior Benjamin Tiber crossed the finish line in the mile at 4:37.06 to place fourth overall.  Sheehan claimed fifth in the shot put at 13.19 meters (43' 4.25"). Harrigan was fifth in the 200 at 23.67 seconds, while first-year Sam Panzer was close behind in seventh at 23.97 seconds.
 
Whitmore posted a time of 7.35 seconds in the 60 to finish sixth. Woodruff was a seventh place runner in the 400 at 53.84 seconds.
