The No. 14 Ithaca College softball team got its first win of the season against Bridgewater State University with a score of 9-4 in the Savannah College of Art & Design's Smash Hit Spring Break Tournament on March 8.
After the Bears took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Bombers responded with four runs of their own. Each team scored one run in the fourth inning, giving Ithaca a 5-4 lead, then IC added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the victory five runs.
Sophomores Leigh Bonkowski and Kaitlyn Dulac, as well as junior Maddie Kraemer, each went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Freshman Zahida Sherman earned the win for the Bombers, only allowing four hits throughout the contest. Ithaca will play one more game in this tournament at 6 p.m. March 9 in Savannah, Ga.
