Cornell Named NFCA DIII Second Team All-American

5/29/2025 12:30:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College senior pitcher Anna Cornell has been named a Second Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), as announced Wednesday evening with the release of the 2025 Division III All-America teams.

Cornell becomes the 20th NFCA All-American in Ithaca softball history and the program's first honoree since Sydney Folk earned the distinction in 2012.

The NFCA All-America teams are selected by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division III, the committee includes one head coach from each of the NCAA's 10 regions. To be eligible for All-America consideration, student-athletes must have been nominated by a member head coach and selected to one of the three All-Region teams.

Anna Cornell finished her standout career with the Bombers in dominant fashion. Recently named an NFCA First Team All-Region III performer, Cornell reset both Ithaca's career strikeouts record (665) and the program's lowest opponent batting average (.188). She also compiled the fifth most shutouts (23) in school history, ranks seventh in complete games (53) and compiled an impressive 52–22 career record on the South Hill.

The 2025 season saw Cornell post a career-best 16–5 record with a 1.31 ERA. She will finish third in all of NCAA Division III in strikeouts per seven innings, averaging 10.9, and her 203 total strikeouts rank sixth nationally. The 2025 Liberty League Pitcher of the Year, Cornell recorded eight shutouts, including a nine-strikeout, one-hit gem in Ithaca's 8–0 Liberty League Championship victory over RPI.

Ithaca College won the Liberty League Championship and finished 30-8 (11-3 LL) in 2025.
