Anna Cornell Named Liberty League Pitcher of the Year; Seven Bombers Earn All-Conference Honors

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Liberty League announced its 2025 All-Conference Teams and Specialty Awards last week, just ahead of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament. Ithaca College senior Anna Cornell was named Liberty League Pitcher of the Year, becoming the first Bomber to earn the honor since 2019.
 
Cornell was one of three Bombers named to the All-Liberty League First Team, joined by Haley Petrucci and Sela Scheinman.
 
An additional five Bombers earned Second Team recognition: Mady Rowell, Cate Murray, Jessie Lopez, Belle de Oliveira, and Elise Waddington.
 
Anna Cornell | Pitcher | Liberty League Pitcher of the Year/All-Liberty League First Team
Cornell capped off a record-breaking career in the circle with arguably her finest season to date. During Liberty League play, she posted a perfect 7–0 record, led the league with a 1.31 earned run average, and held opposing hitters to a league-low .172 batting average. This season, she became Ithaca's all-time strikeout leader, surpassing the previous mark of 576 and finishing her career with 665 strikeouts.
 
In 2025 alone, Cornell went 16-5 with a career-best eight shutouts, recorded 201 strikeouts, and her average of 11.0 strikeouts per seven innings ranks third in all of Division III. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Liberty League Championship after going 3–0 over 19.0 innings of work. Cornell earned All-Liberty League honors in each of her four seasons, including three First Team selections.
 
Haley Petrucci | C | All-Liberty League First Team
A repeat First Team selection, junior Haley Petrucci started in 37 games for the Bombers this season and posted a .359 batting average, the second-highest on the team. She tied for the team lead with three home runs, while also contributing 11 doubles and 25 RBI. Petrucci drew a career-high 18 walks, boosting her on-base percentage to .447.
 
Defensively, she was a standout behind the plate, finishing with a .993 fielding percentage and throwing out six attempted base stealers.
 
Sela Scheinman | SS | All-Liberty League First Team
A veteran leader for the Bombers in 2025, Sela Scheinman closed out her collegiate career with another standout season. She posted a career-best .347 batting average, tallying 15 extra-base hits and 18 RBIs. Scheinman led the team with 37 runs scored, which ranked second in the Liberty League. Already the program's all-time leader in walks, she added 21 more this season to finish her career with 99.
 
Scheinman earned All-Liberty League honors in each of her four seasons, including three First Team selections.
 
Mady Rowell | Pitcher | All-Liberty League Second Team
Sophomore Mady Rowell stepped up in a big way for the Bombers in 2025, playing a key role in the team's pitching success. Her contributions helped Ithaca rank sixth in Division III with a 1.64 team earned run average heading into Super Regionals.
 
Rowell appeared in 18 games, including 14 starts, and compiled an impressive 11–2 record over 86.0 innings pitched. She posted a 1.87 ERA—second-best in the Liberty League behind teammate Anna Cornell—and held opponents to a .247 batting average, the fourth-lowest in the conference.
 
Belle de Oliveira | CF | All-Liberty League Second Team
Another veteran presence for the Bombers, graduate student Belle de Oliveira earned her first-ever All-Conference honor after leading the team with a .373 batting average. She collected a career-high 38 hits and also set personal bests in RBI (23) and runs scored (26). De Oliveira also hit her first career home run in a 13–2 win over Clarkson University.
 
She started all 38 games for Ithaca and was flawless defensively, finishing with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and recording 49 putouts.
 
Jessie Lopez | LF | All-Liberty League Second Team
Jessie Lopez earned her first-ever All-Liberty League honor after delivering the best season of her collegiate career. She started 37 games for Ithaca, hitting .333 while scoring 31 runs—the second-most on the team—and driving in 25 RBI. The slap-hitter also went 14-of-15 in stolen bases, while also producing three doubles and a pair of triples. Similar to de Oliveira, she was flawless defensively, finishing with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage and recording 30 putouts.
 
Cate Murray | 2B | All-Liberty League Second Team
Junior Cate Murray made an immediate impact for the Bombers in 2025, finishing the season with a .344 batting average across 33 games—the fourth-highest batting average on the team. Serving as a spark at the top of the lineup, she scored 31 runs and drove in 22 RBI. Of her 33 hits, seven were doubles, two were triples, and she slugged a home run against St. John Fisher on March 28. Murray also proved to be a threat on the base paths, swiping 12 stolen bases on the year.
 
Elise Waddington | Utility | All-Liberty League Second Team
After a slow start to the season, junior Elise Waddington found her stride during Liberty League play and finished the year with a .330 batting average. Over 112 at-bats, she recorded 11 doubles and tied for the team lead with three home runs. Waddington led the Bombers with 37 RBI and also scored 23 runs. She showcased her versatility throughout the season, making starts at designated player, first base, and second base.
