The 14th-ranked Ithaca College softball team snapped its four-game losing streak with a 10-1 victory against Bridgewater State University at the NFCA Leadoff Classic on March 13. With the win, the Bombers are now 2-4 on the season.
Ithaca scored first in the bottom of the first inning, and then added another run in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. After a scoreless third inning, the Bombers put up five runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Bears scored one run in the top of the fifth, but Ithaca tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the game in six innings.
Hannah Shalett hit her first home run of her collegiate career while going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double. Senior Sara Durant also had a big day for the Bombers, as she went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a triple. Junior Abbey Pelot got her first win of the season as she pitched all six innings while only allowing one earned run. Ithaca will face No. 9 Wheaton at noon March 14 in LaGrange, Ga.
