The Ithaca College softball team defeated Hofstra University by a score of 5-1 in the first game of the NYSAIAW Championship Tournament.
 
Ithaca scored two runs in the top of the second inning and extended its lead to 3-0 with one run scored in the top of the third inning. Hofstra scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Bombers added two runs in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 5-1.
 
Sue France had a great day at the plate for the Bombers as she went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Dee Dee Mayes went 2-for-4 with one RBI and M.E. Alger went 2-for-5 with one RBI.
 
Andi Woodbury only allowed eight hits in the win.
