The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against Montclair State University, winning the first game 2-0 but losing the second game 2-0.

The game was scoreless when the Bombers scored one run in the fourth inning to take an early lead. Ithaca's final run of the contest came in the top of the sixth inning.

Junior Darlene Unger went 2-for-3 with one RBI and sophomore Wendy Jo Haft went 2-for-3 as well. Senior Diane Para went 1-for-2 with one run scored and junior Carol Buckheit went 1-for-4 with one run scored.

Junior Kathy Volpi pitched a three-hitter and struck out four batters in the win.

Montclair State scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Ithaca was unable to score any runs throughout the contest.

Buckheit and Haft both went 1-for-2. Senior Patti Seebach and junior Cindy Tessarolo both had one hit as well.

Freshman Julie Wilcox recorded three strikeouts and only allowed seven hits through six innings pitched.
