The Ithaca College softball team lost to Marietta College by a score of 7-6 in its first game of the season. 
 
The contest was tied at 4-4 headed into the eighth inning. The Bombers scored two runs in the ninth inning to take the 6-4 lead, but Marietta scored three runs in the ninth inning to secure the win. 
 
The game was scoreless until the Bombers scored their first run in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. Ithaca added three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 4-0 lead and Marietta scored an impressive four runs in the seventh inning to tie the contest. 
 
Junior Marie Higby went 2-for-3 with one RBI and freshman Kim Lamoureaux went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Sophomore Nancy Liskiewicz went 1-for-4 with one RBI and sophomore Jodi Maddren added an RBI as well. Freshman Kelle Jo Rolfe had two RBI in the game. 
 
Freshman Heather Ware only allowed six hits through 8.7 innings pitched and recorded four strikeouts.
