The Ithaca College softball team opened up the 1992 season with a 4-3 win over Marietta College.
 
Ithaca jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added two runs in the top of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Marietta scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead to 4-2. In the seventh inning, Marietta tried to spark a comeback, but could only score one run.
 
Freshman Chris Pettograsso went 2-for-3 with one run scored and junior Kim Lamoureaux went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Junior Kristin Letourneau and freshman Sindie Shollenberger both went 1-for-3.
 
Freshman Susan Reid picked up her first win of the season as she only allowed two hits and recorded five strikeouts through four innings pitched.
