Ithaca vs Montclair, 1991

The Ithaca College softball team swept its doubleheader against Montclair State University in dramatic fashion, winning the first game 4-3 in 10 innings and winning the second game in 11 innings. 
 
Game 1 | Ithaca 4, Montclair 3
 
Tied at 3-3, the Bombers scored the winning run in the 10th inning to take the 4-3 win. 
 
Ithaca scored two runs in the second inning to take an early 2-0 lead and Montclair scored one run in the third inning to cut the lead in half. The Bombers scored their final run in regulation in the fourth inning to go up 3-1. Montclair added one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game 3-3. 
 
Junior Heather Afarian and senior Marybeth Progno both went 2-for-5 with one RBI and senior Jodi Maddren added an RBI as well as she finished the game going 1-for-4. Sophomore Kim Lamoureaux had a great game at the plate as she went 3-for-5 with one run scored. 
 
Junior Stacy Swiger only allowed five hits through 10 innings pitched and recorded four strikeouts. 
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 8, Montclair 5
 
Heading into the 11th inning, the contest was tied at 4-4. Ithaca scored four runs in the 11th inning to take the 8-4 lead, and Montclair could only add one run in the 11th inning. 
 
Montclair jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and the Bombers tied the contest with two runs of their own in the second inning. Montclair added two runs in the third inning and Ithaca tied the game again in the fifth inning with two more runs. 
 
Maddren finished the game going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored. Progno and sophomore Kristin Letourneau each had two hits with one RBI. 
 
Junior Stacy Johnson allowed 14 hits and recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts in the win. The Bombers are now 8-2 on the season.
