The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against Kean University, winning the first game 9-5, but losing the second game 3-1.
Game 1 | Ithaca 9, Kean 5
The Bombers went up 1-0 after the first inning, but Kean tied the contest in the bottom of the third inning. Ithaca scored an impressive five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead and Kean scored another run in the bottom of the fourth.
The Bombers scored two more runs in the top of the fifth inning and Kean added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 8-3. The Cougars tallied two runs in the bottom of the sixth but could not tie the contest as Ithaca also added one run in the top of the seventh inning.
Senior Chris Pettograsso went 1-for-4 with two RBI and junior Susan Reid went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Freshman Ellen Mullin went 3-for-4 with one RBI and freshman Nicki Swan went 3-for-4 off two doubles and had one RBI.
Reid pitched all seven innings and only allowed nine hits while recording three strikeouts.
Game 2 | Kean 3, Ithaca 1
Kean scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early lead and added another run in the bottom of the third inning. The Bombers' lone run came in the top of the sixth inning.
Sophomore Jeanine Bleau went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Freshman Angela Ellis went 1-for-3 and Mullin went 1-for-4 with one run scored.
Swan gave up eight hits and recorded two strikeouts.
