Ithaca vs Kean, 1997

The Ithaca College softball team split its doubleheader against Kean College, losing the first game 4-1, but winning the second game by a score of 8-1. 
 
Game 1 | Kean 4, Ithaca 1
 
Kean tied the game 4-4 in the top of the seventh inning as the Cougars scored four runs. In the top of the eighth, Kean took the 5-4 lead. 
 
The Bombers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added one run in the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the sixth, Ithaca scored one more run to take a 4-0 lead. 
 
Junior Amy McMordie went 2-for-2 with two RBI and sophomore Cheryl Wah went 1-for-4 with one RBI. 
 
Senior Nicki Swan pitched all eight innings and only allowed four hits while striking out five batters. 
 
Game 2 | Ithaca 8, Kean 1
 
Kean took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bombers scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Ithaca added one run in the second inning and then scored two runs in the fourth inning. The Bombers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 8-1 win. 
 
Freshman Janine Lawler went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the contest and senior Meg Steere went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Wah went 2-for-3 with an RBI and senior Merry Ellen Hoffman went 3-for-4 with one RBI. 
 
Freshman Christie Davis pitched a two-hitter and struck out one batter in her third win of the season.
