Basketball Teams Host Liberty League Quarterfinal Games on Tuesday

ITHACA, N.Y. – On Tuesday evening, the Ithaca College men's and women's basketball programs will host Liberty League quarterfinal contests inside Ben Light Gymnasium at 6 and 8 p.m. in their first-ever seasons within the conference. The women take on William Smith College at 6 p.m., while the men play Skidmore College at 8 p.m.

The women's team is the No. 3 seed in the championship after posting an overall record of 19-6 and a 14-4 mark in Liberty League action. They tied RIT and Skidmore for first in the league standings, but due to tiebreakers, Skidmore will serve as the host school for the semifinals and final on Saturday and Sunday.

William Smith is the sixth seed in the tournament with a 15-10 overall record and a 9-9 ledger in league games.

The Bombers took both games against the Herons this season by scores of 72-52 and 68-53. The winner tomorrow will play RIT at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Vassar College and St. Lawrence University play in the other quarterfinal game on Tuesday with the winner advancing to play Skidmore at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

On the men's side, Ithaca earned the fourth seed with a 15-10 overall record and 10-8 in league outings. Skidmore is the No. 5 seed as the Thoroughbreds posted an overall mark of 13-11 this season with a .500 record in conference (9-9).

Ithaca and Skidmore split the meetings this year, as the Bombers won, 84-71, on January 20, but Skidmore earned an 80-59 victory on February 2. Tomorrow night's winner advances to play host Hobart College at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Geneva.

RIT and Vassar play in the other quarterfinal in Rochester, with the winner taking on Union at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
