BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team jumped back into action following a one-week hiatus from competition on Saturday afternoon when it traveled to Brockport for the team's first dual meet of the year against the Golden Eagles. The Bombers finished behind Brockport during their first two competition dates and unfortunately the trend continued this afternoon, as the Golden Eagles held the edge in all four rotations to outdistance IC 189.975-to-182.300.
Â
Highlighting the day's action was sophomore
Carolyn Nichols, who posted the top overall score in the vault with a career-best 9.600. The mark shattered her previous career high in the event by a full tenth of a point, as she scored a 9.500 at last year's dual meet at Brockport on January 30, 2016.
Â
The vault was a strong point for Ithaca on the day, as the team posted a season-high 46.800 on the day. Freshman

Maggie Verrette came up just shy of her previous career best with a 9.275, only .025 short of tying her mark from the Cornell Invitational last season.
Â
Ithaca also performed a strong set of routines on the uneven parallel bars, improving on its score for the second straight competition. The team cumulative score of 46.450 set a new season-high, 0.400 higher than the Bombers' score at the Ithaca Tri-Meet two weekends ago. Junior
