RESULTS
NEW HAVEN, CONN. — The Ithaca College gymnastics team kicked off the 2016 season Saturday at Southern Connecticut, as the Bombers placed third out of four teams and claimed the team title on the balance beam.
Ithaca scored 185.925 points on the day, placing ahead of Springfield College (185.275) while trailing Division I Brown University (188.950) and Division II Southern Connecticut State (187.750).
The Bombers recorded 46.750 points on the balance beam to win the team title in that event. Ithaca also scored 47.325 on the vault, 46.675 on the floor, and 45.175 on the uneven bars.
Freshman
Nina Bustamante-Nadeau finished tied for second on the balance beam (9.625), sophomore
Kendra Balcerak tied for fourth (9.550), sophomore
Hannah Donnelly (9.475) tied for seventh, and senior co-captain
Lara Haberle (9.350) tied for tenth as Ithaca boasted four of the top 10 scorers on the beam.
Among the other meet highlights for the Bombers: freshman
Carolyn Nichols placed seventh on the floor (9.425) in her first collegiate competition, and graduate student and co-captain
Valerie Cohen tied for eighth on the floor exercise (9.4) and was ninth on the vault (9.550).
Ithaca hosts The College at Brockport at 4 p.m. Wednesday inside Ben Light Gymnasium on the Ithaca campus.Â
