Men's Basketball Drops 95-84 Decision At Nazareth

Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team dropped a road conference game at Nazareth Tuesday evening, falling to the Golden Flyers by a score of 95-84 at Kidera Gymnasium. The loss drops Ithaca's overall record to 11-13, including a mark of 8-7 in the Empire 8. Nazareth improves to 9-14 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

The Bombers shot 50.8 percent from the floor, connecting on 32-of-63 total shots in the contest. Ithaca was 10-of-28 from the three-point range, giving them a shooting percentage of 35.7 from beyond the arc. The Bombers also connected on 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) shots from the free throw line.

Senior Keefe Gitto paced the team with 20 points, pairing with a team-high 15 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season. Junior Sam Bevan scored 16 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine assists in 35 minutes of work. Freshman Carroll Rich matched his career high with 15 points, and classmate Marc Chasin chipped in with 11 points in the start. Senior Max Masucci rounded out the top scorers with 10 points.

The first nine minutes of the opening half featured four ties, marking fairly even play to open the contest. Ithaca was able to get the game's first big lead at 10:04 of the first, as the Bombers jumped out to a seven point lead. A three pointer from Rich capped a 10-0 run for Ithaca over a 2:30 stretch, putting the score at 30-23 in favor of the Bombers.

Nazareth recovered in the remaining time, thanks to a 21-5 Golden Flyer run. Nazareth's offensive output pushed the score to 44-35, giving the Golden Flyers a nine-point lead with just under four minutes left in the first. The Bombers responded with another big run, outscoring Nazareth 11-2 over the next two minutes. A Masucci three pointer tied the contest at 46-46 in the final minutes, marking the sixth tie of the half. Despite the rally, Nazareth closed the frame on fire, taking a 53-46 lead into the break.

The Golden Flyers' late run late in the first half made all the difference, as Nazareth's momentum carried into the second. The Bombers weren't able to take back the lead in the final frame, with Nazareth eventually taking the 95-84 victory.

The Bombers conclude their regular season on Friday Feb. 20, as they head to Elmira to take on the Soaring Eagles. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.Ā
