ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team picked up where it left off last season with a pair of wins as the Bombers defeated both The College at Brockport and Fredonia on Saturday in a tri-meet at the A&E Aquatics Center. As a team, the Bombers captured 11 first-place finishes in all.
Ithaca defeated Brockport, 229.0-62.0 before handing Fredonia a 199.0-100.0 loss.
The Bombers captured their first top finish in the 200-yard medley relay as
Aaron Levin,
Aidan Hartswick,
Vincent Dodero and
Jon Husson out raced five other groups with a time of 1:39.44. Husson and Levin would later team up with
Tomos Williams and
Addison Hebert for a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay after completing the event in 1:27.88.
Hebert would go on to record three more first-place finishes for Ithaca after winning the 100-yard and 200-Yard freestyle events along with the 500-yard freestyle.
James Bowe finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke after touching the wall in 27.91 and would repeat the feat in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:01.12.
Bradley Keith also claimed a pair of first-place finishes after winning both the 50-yard backstroke (25.87) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.43).
Husson would go on to add another victory in the 50-yard freestyle after completing the event in 22.01.
Justin Barwick earned a first-place standing in the 1000-yard freestyle after beating out six other participants with a final time of 10:52.00.
In the deep end of the pool, Ithaca's
Scott Hillen captured a fourth place finish in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 237.20.
The Bombers will return to the pool at 2 p.m. on Saturday when they face Rensselaer in Troy.
