ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's tennis team (12-1) returned home to Glazer Arena and posted a 5-4 victory over St. Lawrence (1-1) in a dual match Saturday. Many of the matches were extremely close, including the concluding two matches which each went three sets and were won by Bomber players to clinch the dual-match victory. St. Lawrence is ranked 15th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The decisive team points came at second singles and sixth singles. Allison Young pulled out a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win at second singles to make the team score 4-4 and Alyssa Steinweis won her match at sixth singles after dropping the first set. Steinweis' match score was 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.

Cristina Nunez was a 6-1, 7-5 winner at first singles, which was the 61st singles victory of her career and put her atop the career singles victory charts, moving one ahead of Meghan Carroll '04. Nunez was also an 8-5 winner at first doubles with Carly Siegel. It was the 50th doubles victory of Nunez's career, and with 111 overall victories, she stands just two behind Melanie Cohen's all-time Bomber record of 113 wins.

The Bombers also picked up an 8-2 win at third doubles by the team of Steinweis and Allison Vizgaitis.

Ithaca College will head on its spring training tournament to South Carolina from March 9-14 where the Bombers will have three dual matches.
