COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ithaca wrestling team, ranked ninth nationally, defeated 20th-ranked New Jersey as part of a 2-1 day at the North-South Duals hosted by Ursinus. Ithaca started the day with a 44-0 win over Gettysburg, then posted a 31-6 win over TCNJ, before dropping a 21-18 decision to nationally-ranked Division II team Kutztown to conclude the day's wrestling. The Bombers are 4-1 in dual matches this season and will travel to Springfield, Ill. for the Division III National Wrestling Duals next weekend.

Ithaca's 44-0 shutout of Gettysburg marked the 24th time in program history that the Bombers have won a dual by shutout, and the first time since a 44-0 win over McDaniel on Jan. 11, 2010 also at the North-South Duals. Anthony Cabrera, Evan Connors and Cris Ramirez all won by pin and six other Bombers earned wins by decision.

The Bombers convincingly defeated TCNJ behind pinfall wins by Derek Brenon and Cris Ramirez, and a major decision from Jules Doliscar. At 133 pounds, Alex Gomez scored an 8-5 decision over TCNJ's Dan Herr, who entered the competition ranked second in the nation in that weight class. Five other Bombers won by decision in that match, Ithaca's first dual this season against a nationally-ranked team.

Kutztown, ranked 20th in the latest NWCA Division II poll, won the last three bouts of the final match of the day to post a 21-18 win. Ithaca took an early 6-0 lead on decision victories by Cabrera and Alex Gomez. Brenon and Connors also added decision victories and Doliscar won by pinfall to account for Ithaca's team points.
